"The following letter from Chaumont L Bois, France, has been recieved by Mrs. J. R. Nuchols:

Dear Mother;

      I recieved a letter from you a few days ago, and was sorry to hear that you were not feeling well. I hope you are feeling wel bythe time you recieve this. I am feeling fine myself, but anxiously waiting to go home. I will tell you a little about my trip since I left New York. We loaded on the boat August 7 and sailed on the 8th. We were on the boat twelve days, landing in Liverpool, England, August 20. The next day we crossed England by rail to Southampton, then we boarded the American boat "Yale", and crossed the English Channel landing at Le Harve, France, August 23. We left Le Harve by rail and went to Pene Fontaine, up near the Sioisse border. Since then we have made several little moves.
      I am in Chaumont Le Boise now near Chatillon Sur Sune. We have been here for about two months. I have never been in any battles, but would have been in a few days had the war went on, for we were getting close to the front. What I am wanting now is a return ticket to the States. I have never recieved any mail from George Potter yet, it must have been lost. I recieved a letter from Uncle Andy the same time I recieved yours. Shorty Miller said to tell you all hello.

Well, I will close, hoping to hear from you again.
Your son,
I. F. Nuchols

Hello, Old Timer;
      How is everthing with you now? I am fine and dandy and enjoying good health. I haven't had to fight any yet, but had a wonderful trip. I wish you were here with me to tease these Frence girls. Earnest Miller is with me. We sleep in the same room and the same section, you can bet we have some good times. I would like to be there and go fox hunting with you. I will lead you a good round when I get back.
      Tell all the folks hello for me, and to look out for me for I am coming home one of these days. I will have lots to tell you when I get home. I will close hoping to hear from you soon.

Yours truly,
I. F. Nuchols
