b. 8 Dec 1881, Blount County, Tennessee, m. 4 Feb 1904, in Blount County, Tennessee, Dorcas Luvenia James, b. 7 Feb 1887, Blount County, Tennessee, (daughter of William Logan (Bid) James and Rebecca Jennie Nuchols) d. 12 Dec 1974, Blount County, Tennessee, buried, Grandview Cemetery, Maryville, Tennessee. Charles died 25 Dec 1966, Blount County, Tennessee, buried, Grandview Cemetery, Maryville, Tennessee.

Charles and wife, Dorcas, were interested and worked in their church in Blount County. Charlie was a deacon and Dorcas taught the children in Piney Grove Baptist Church. She also helped start the first WMU in that church. Charlie had taught school in earlier years, and between them and their son, Fate, ran a store at Blockhouse, Grandview, Nickel Point, and on Tuckaleechee Pike.
In 1913, Charlie and Dorcas lived across the road from the Russell Cemetery, near a school that once sat on the hill back of their house. Charlie's father had gone to school there, and later taught there. Charlie had once taught at Old Piney School. He lived with his sister, Dora, and her husband, Joe H. Potter, on Wilkerson Pike, and attended Maryville College.
Charlie and Dorcas made at least three trips to California. In 1936, Charlie and his sons worked in an orange grove. Later, Jim and Charles were tree surgeons in Blount County, Tennessee.
Many years later, Charlie and Dorcas helped organize the Grandview Baptist Church.

Dorcas: Dorcas lovingly told the story of how her parents loaded the family and their piano, and came to what is now Grandview Cemetery, near the log cabin, and held church on Sunday mornings. Then in the afternoons, they loaded up the piano and went to Pleasant Grove Church. The James family were music lovers. They lived on what was the Otis Waters' farm near Grandview.
